Kowase Ferry Remains（Kowase-no Watashiba-ato）

小和瀬の渡し場跡

Autumn leaves reflected in the surface of the river

At Kowase, which is the entrance to the Kogumotori-goe Section of the Nakahechi route, ferry boats used to ply, carrying numerous pilgrims, waiting in long lines, across the river. In 1954, a suspension bridge was built there and replaced these ferry services. Even that bridge has now been converted into a splendid concrete bridge.
