Tsurigane-ishi Rock (Hanging Bell-Shaped Rock) along the Kumano-gawa River(Kumano-gawa-no Tsurigane-ishi)
熊野川の釣鐘石
Towering, gigantic "Hanging Bell"
If you take a boat ride down the Kumano-gawa River, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for serving as a river pilgrimage route, numerous scenic spots and odd-shaped rocks appear one after another on both sides of the river. The Tsurigane-ishi Rock (Hanging Bell-Shaped Rock), just as it is named, looks like a hanging bell because of the fissures created around it. If the smaller rocks on top of the Tsurigane-ishi Rock fall into the river, it is said that the world will come to an end.
