Flower, nicknamed a "noblewoman in a mountain village," that eases the minds of visitors

Over a stone wall located inside the precincts of Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine, Tricyrtis macranthopsis (a kind of toad lily), a rare plant species that grows only in the Kii Peninsula, is nurtured. From late September to mid October, around 200 of these toad lilies bear yellow hanging bell-shaped flowers, entertaining visitors to the shrine.
