Waroda-ishi Rock in the Rain(Ame-no Waroda-ishi)

雨の円座石

Green color that deepens when exposed to the rain

It is said that the deities of Kumano Sanzan shrines sat in a circle on top of Waroda-ishi Rock (literally, “Round Cushion” Rock) and chatted there as they drank sake. Carved on the surface of the rock are encircled Sanskrit characters. This huge rock covered with moss exudes an even more powerful presence when it becomes wet in the rain.
