A huge rock lying along the Kumano Kodo

Shimizu-toge Pass is located along the Kumano Kodo on the border of Kushimoto Town and Nachikatsuura Town. It lies along the Kozagawa arc-shaped dyke, listed in the “Geology 100 selections of Japan.” If you scramble up the slope close to the entrance on the Kushimoto side, you will be on the round dyke shaped like the back of a large whale.
