Sennin-buro River Bath and Lanterns（Sennin-buro to tourou）

Atmospheric lanterns in the hot-spring steam
In the town of Kawayu Onsen in Hongu-cho, Tanabe City, if you dig into the river bank, hot-spring water wells up. From December to February, the “Sennin-buro River Bath,” a huge outdoor hot spring bath is created by blocking the flow of the Oto-gawa River. The bath is open from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm, and is free of charge. From 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Saturdays, the “Yukemuri Tourou (Lanterns in the hot-spring steam)” event is held. Lanterns are placed around the bath to create the scenic atmosphere of a hot-spring town in the night. *To protect the privacy of those enjoying the bath, photography is forbidden at the Sennin-buro River Bath.
