Squirrel-Gnawed Pine Cones(Risu-ga-kajitta Matsubokkuri)

リスがかじった松ぼっくり

Fried shrimps prepared by squirrels

Along the Kumano Kodo are loblolly pines, pine trees of the U.S., planted a long time ago. The trees drop large pine cones, and their seeds are eaten by Japanese squirrels. The remaining cores look just like fried shrimps.
