Sensuikyo Bridge(Sensuikyo )

潜水橋

Bridge that sinks into the river

Over the Tonda-gawa River, where there used to be a site of cold water ablutions (mizugori), the Sensuikyo Bridge, which submerges into the water when flooding occurs, is built. The bridge dose not have railings or barriers, since they resist the flow of water. The Sensuikyo Bridge, which is also called the Hatayama-bashi Bridge, is situated near Inabane-oji, and has a width of 1.6 m and a length of 174 m. You may want to try crossing it once.
