Colony of Edgeworthia chrysantha (Mitsumata)(Mitsumata-no gunsei)

ミツマタの群生

Yellow flowers shining on a slope

If you walk just under 10 minutes toward Waroda-ishi Rock (“Round Cushion” Rock) from the Koguchi area entrance to the Ogumotori-goe Section, there is a colony of Edgeworthia chrysantha (mitsumata). It seems that some of the mitsumata that were used to produce washi (traditional Japanese paper) in the olden days went wild and have spread in that area. Today, the mitsumata that bloom there bring joy to walkers on the Kumano Kodo.
