In Myohozan Amida-ji Temple has been passed down the legend of “Kumano pilgrimage of the dead,” saying that the soul of the dead rings the Hitotsu-kane bell near the main gate only once before leaving for the land of the dead. Standing in the premises of the temple in the mist, you may hear the bell ring at any moment.
