The Stone Guardian with a Straw Hat Protecting Travelers

On the way from Hosshinmon-oji to Fushiogami-oji, a stone figure of Dokyu Zenmon Jizo consoles the spirits of pilgrims who lost their lives during their pilgrimage. In winter, local people put a straw hat on the Jizo to protect it from the cold weather. The warmly-dressed Jizo protects the pilgrims who travels along the ancient way covered with snow.
