A Brief Detour: A View of Autumnal Leaves at the Observatory and the O-torii-Gate（Chotto yorimichi tenbodai no koyo to otorii）
Harmony of the Morning Mist and Autumnal Leaves
From the observatory on the Kumano Kodo that looks down Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine, you can enjoy seasonal views that change every hour. You can enjoy an especially beautiful view in the early morning. When the morning sunlight shines on Oyunohara, where Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine was originally located, the mist sparkles as if it is dancing. In autumn, the colored leaves at the observatory add a beautiful touch to the mountains of Kumano.
Walk down from Fushigami-oji for about 40 min. or climb up from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine for about 25 min.
