Rain-soaked Ogumotori-goe Section (Ame-no Ogumotori-goe)

雨の大雲取越

Rain-soaked Ogumotori, where even famous Sadaie Fujiwara passed

Some time in the early years of the Kamakura period (1185‒1333), Sadaie Fujiwara (a famous Japanese scholar and poet) passed through the rain-soaked Ogumotori Section as he rode in a kago (sedan chair). Looking at the rain-soaked stone pavements of the Section, you may try to imagine what the travelers in ancient times went through in the course of their journeys.
