Hime hijiki” (a kind of hijiki or Sargassum fusiforme), which is harvested from the rocky areas of the Hime Coast in Kushimoto Town, is well-known for its high quality. The hijiki grown on a rock on the rocky beach is first cut and harvested by sickle. After being dried in the sun, the seaweed is boiled in an iron pot. Finally, it will be dried again.
