Takahara Kumano-jinja Shrine was constructed in 1544. It is considered to be the oldest shrine building existing along the Kumano Kodo. Its precincts were designated as a Landscape of Minakata Mandala, in which a large camphor tree, which is considered to be more than 1,000 years old, welcomes worshipers.
