Inazumijima Island in tender green (Shinryoku no Inazumi-jima)

新緑の稲積島

An offshore natural monument

Inazumijima Island, which appears in the midst of Susami Bay, has a legend going back to the eastern expedition of Emperor Jinmu. On the island, subtropical plants grow naturally in a forest which has been designated as a national natural monument. The island is also the northernmost natural habitat of spleenwort (Asplenium antiquum). In the season of tender green, the green island is reflected on the blue sea.
