Large-leaf dogwood (Swida macrophylla) is a tall deciduous tree belonging to the family Cornaceae. Its Japanese name, “Kumano Mizuki,” was named after the Kumano area. While leaves of wedding cake tree (Cornus controversa) attach alternately to the stem, large-leaf dogwood features leaves that attach to the stem at the same point.
