Nachi Waterfall itself is considered the “shintai” (body of a deity) of Hiro-jinja Shrine, a subordinate shrine of Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine. A rainbow emerges out of the waterfall, with the golden rays of the sun reflected by the splashes of this sacred fall.
