Niko Fire Festival（Niko-no Hi-matsuri）

二河の火祭り

Intensely burning torches

This is a fire festival with a 500-year history. During the festival, young people dressed in white hurl their blazing torches in the air, aiming at iron wires hung across the top of a building in the precincts of a shrine. The scene of these burning torches makes it appear as if the entire mountain is on fire, when seen from a distance.
