Gyuba-doji stone statue standing in the snow
The Gyuba-doji stone statue is the symbol of the Kumano Kodo. It is believed to have been sculpted during the Meiji era (1868–1912) in the image of the Cloistered Emperor Kazan on a journey. It has an even more dignified expression in the snow.
